A story been written during my sleepless nights, fairly accompanied by my SSRI drugs, a cup of frappucino and a chunk of optimism. Presenting you, my deadly trial on becoming the most random, engineering-major, truly amateur fictional writer, 'Dead Cat For Zoey'. Well, if Sophie Kinsella, Emily Cassel or Stephanie Meyer happen to read my book, please, don't flush mine into your bowl. That's too rude! Haha.

Mission Briefing

Salam kawan-kawan lama and baru,

I'm currently working on a book, an English fiction, and part of the book is dedicated to all my MRSM and college friends. There is one time, the character in my book, revisits his past childhood memories in the search of finding his old-self and one of the places is MRSM YT Dungun, which as all of us aware, doesn't exist anymore and been replaced with other school.

So, the thing here is, I finish the book but none of the publishers in Malaysia wants to publish it because of two things: First, it is written in ENGLISH, second, they are afraid that ENGLISH fiction would not sell in Malaysians market, though we aware that books like Stephenie Meyer's Twilight and Dan Brown's Lost Symbol, Da Vinci Code etc, always made the bestselling. (I know, these are very influential authors, but there is no harm of trying)

I have nothing against these publishers but I am upset, about how low-rent and negative-thinking we are, in this 'broadband era' where everything is made possible. Proof? Look at Zee Avi, a Youtube stardom, now making her name and fame in United States, and now, Yuna is there too, Jimmy Choo's already there, and more to come, like Bunkface etc, and even Upin & Ipin, which has more fans in Indonesia compared to Malaysia! (What the heck is going on!)

The thing is, we don't have to be AFRAID of dreaming and acting BIG, because our PM wants us to be GLOBAL. That's the big, tac point. We have been conquered and colonized by the Portuguese, the Dutch, and the British, for more than a century, thus it's now the time, for us, Malaysians, to conquer the Europe, America and other continents, and first step is - By mastering their languages. And we start with English.

Thus, all that I'm asking is to support this project, just by becoming fans in our fan page 'Dead Cat for Zoey' in facebook, and at least, I am looking for 5000 fans and pledges, as foolproof to these publishers, that we support our local writers and we are NOT AFRAID of READING ENGLISH BOOK, because we are the new, smartest and brightest generation of One Malaysia. What happens when we reach 5000 benchmark? If I get lots of supports, I'll do my best to self-publish this book, with my own money and sweats. That's how we do it.

Just become a fan (DO IT NOW), that's all I'm asking for now. Salam and take care.

Sick of bureaucracy,

P/S: Spread the words. And for further info about this project, visit http://www.facebook.com/pages/Dead-Cat-for-Zoey and don't forget to tag other friends, it's the fastest and easiest way to publicize this project. Thanks
